Category: Asentria Remote Site Monitoring, Building and Environmental Control

Description: Covers the SL12-series remote site monitoring device, including its environmental sensors and alarm reporting.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SL12-MIB?

SL12-MIB is a vendor MIB for the SL12-series remote site monitoring device, a compact unit deployed at unattended sites to watch environmental conditions and raise alarms via SNMP traps. It exposes basic device identification (serial number, firmware version, site ID) alongside alarm status and trap-destination configuration for up to several SNMP managers. Its monitoring purpose is centered on facility/environmental alarm status and software version tracking: alarmStatus reports the current alarm condition of the monitored site, firmwareVersion identifies the running software so operators can track update needs, and thisTrapText/forceTraps let the device describe and manually trigger alarm notifications. As a simple standalone enterprise MIB it has no notable dependency on other MIBs. It is typically deployed at remote or unmanned installations (cell sites, equipment cabinets) reporting environmental or intrusion alarms back to a NOC via configured SNMP trap receivers. Engineers can download the SL12-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SL12-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • SL12-series remote site monitoring unit

Monitoring Examples

An operator reads alarmStatus to check whether the SL12 unit is currently reporting an active alarm condition at its site, and firmwareVersion/serialNumber to confirm which device and software revision is deployed. The snmpManager1 through snmpManager4 objects configure up to four trap destinations, and statusRepeatHours controls how often the device re-sends an active alarm as a reminder; forceTraps can be used to manually trigger a test trap with thisTrapText carrying a descriptive message, useful for verifying that trap delivery to the NOC is working end to end.

What Can Be Monitored

  • alarm status
  • firmware version
  • site identifier
  • configured trap manager addresses
  • alarm repeat interval
