Description: Nokia Siemens Networks SHE DSLAM multi-pair xDSL bonding management per ITU-T G.998.1/G.998.2 for ATM-based and Ethernet-based bonded channel entities

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SHE-GBOND-MIB?

SHE-GBOND-MIB is a Nokia Siemens Networks module for the SHE DSLAM platform, managing multi-pair bonded xDSL interfaces as defined in ITU-T Recommendations G.998.1 (ATM-based bonding) and G.998.2 (Ethernet-based bonding). It models the bonded-channel entities themselves, covering both ATM-based (GBOND-ATM) and Ethernet-based (GBOND-ETH) bonding schemes used to combine multiple copper pairs into a single higher-bandwidth logical DSL connection. Its monitoring value is centered on the operational/configuration status of these bonded interfaces, letting administrators determine whether all member pairs of a bonded group are active and correctly aggregated, which is critical hardware-line status for DSLAM access equipment. It explicitly depends on the ITU-T G.998.1 and G.998.2 standards (and references the Broadband Forum's WT-157 working text) for its bonding data model rather than defining bonding concepts itself. It is deployed on Nokia Siemens Networks SHE-series DSLAMs in fixed-line broadband access networks offering bonded xDSL service to subscribers. Engineers can download the SHE-GBOND-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SHE-GBOND-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nokia Siemens Networks SHE DSLAM (fixed-line broadband access equipment)

Monitoring Examples

No object/table names were retained in this extract, so a concrete polling walk cannot be grounded in real identifiers here; per the standard it implements, an administrator would typically check a bonded-group table for the number of active member pairs versus the configured total, since a bonded group reporting fewer active pairs than expected indicates one or more physical copper lines have failed or been disconnected, reducing available bandwidth.

What Can Be Monitored

  • bonded xDSL group status
  • active vs configured member pair count
  • ATM-based (GBOND-ATM) bonding status
  • Ethernet-based (GBOND-ETH) bonding status
