Description: Manages Securicor Arisoft WAN router tunnel endpoint configuration and encapsulation parameters.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SCA-TUNNEL-MIB?
SCA-TUNNEL-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Securicor Arisoft for managing tunnel endpoint configuration on their WAN routers, covering tunnel state, direction, addressing, and queueing. It exposes per-tunnel-interface data including operational state, direction (e.g., inbound/outbound), local and remote IP addresses and ports, and transmit/receive queue sizes. Its monitoring value is centered on software/connectivity status: confirming a tunnel is up and correctly addressed, and watching queue sizes as an early indicator of congestion or a stalled tunnel that could precede packet loss. It builds on standard IP addressing and interface-index conventions (tying tunnelInfoIfIndex back to IF-MIB) even though the tunnel semantics themselves are Securicor-specific. It is deployed on Securicor WAN routers establishing IP tunnels (e.g., site-to-site) across enterprise wide-area networks. Engineers can download the SCA-TUNNEL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SCA-TUNNEL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Securicor Arisoft WAN routers with IP tunnel interfaces
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll tunnelInfoTable/tunnelInfoEntry keyed by tunnelInfoIfIndex to check tunnelInfoState and confirm tunnelInfoLocalAddress/tunnelInfoRemoteAddress match the intended tunnel endpoints. A growing tunnelInfoTransmitQueueSize with tunnelInfoState still showing as up would suggest the tunnel is congested or the remote endpoint is not draining traffic, foreshadowing packet loss.
What Can Be Monitored
- tunnel operational state
- tunnel direction
- local/remote tunnel addressing
- transmit/receive queue size
