Category: Securicor WAN Router Management, WAN and Routing

Description: Manages Securicor WAN router multipoint link v2 configuration with enhanced circuit management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SCA-MPLINK2-MIB?

SCA-MPLINK2-MIB is a proprietary MIB copyrighted by Intel Corporation (1997) under the SCANET-MIB enterprise tree (mplk2), despite the hint's Securicor attribution - it models a second-generation 'MP Link' abstraction used to represent proprietary multiprotocol WAN/LAN links on Intel-era Securicor-branded routers. mpl2ServiceTable holds per-link identification (slot, plug number/name, attachment connector type, provider/protocol stack) and 64-bit sent/received byte counters split into upper/lower halves, plus an mpl2ServiceLock object an operator can set to lock or unlock a link from local management. mpl2LanTable adds Ethernet-style error counters (CRC errors, overruns, collisions, SQE failures, no-carrier events) for LAN-side links, while mpl2WanTable tracks WAN-side call/connection state (mpl2WanDataState, mpl2WanConnectState, retries, backup-link relationships, and Daily Activity Limit locking) with an mpl2IfStackTable describing sub-layer relationships mirroring the standard ifStackTable. Four TRAP-TYPE definitions (mpl2LockEvent, mpl2WanRetriesEvent, mpl2WanActivityEvent, mpl2WanTimerEvent) notify a manager of lock changes, excessive call retries, and activity-limit lockouts, so administrators use the SCA-MPLINK2-MIB MIB to monitor WAN dial/call reliability and LAN-side error rates on these legacy multiprotocol link routers.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SCA-MPLINK2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Intel-era proprietary multiprotocol WAN/LAN link routers (SCANET/Securicor-branded)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls mpl2WanConnectState in mpl2WanTable for a given mpl2WanNumber, and a persistent connectState of error(8) alongside a rising mpl2WanCallsFailed counter would indicate that a WAN MP Link is repeatedly failing to establish its call.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-link byte counters (sent/received)
  • LAN-side error counters (CRC, collisions, overruns)
  • WAN data-state and connect-state
  • call success/failure/retry counters
  • link lock and activity-limit status
  • lock, retries, activity, and timer event traps
