What Is QB-CESV2-MIB?
This is a Quantum Bridge proprietary MIB that extends the standard Circuit Emulation Service version 2 (CESv2) MIB with additional objects for managing DS1 (T1) circuit emulation links on Quantum Bridge devices. Its data category is TDM-over-packet configuration — covering circuit emulation encapsulation, jitter-buffer parameters, and DS1 link settings needed to carry legacy TDM traffic across a packet network. It is used to monitor the software configuration and operational health of circuit-emulation links — the jitter buffer and encapsulation parameters directly affect whether emulated TDM traffic experiences underrun/overrun or timing slips, so tracking these values (and any associated alarm/status objects) reveals a degraded emulated circuit before end-users notice voice/data quality issues. It explicitly depends on the standard CESv2 MIB and related IETF drafts, adding Quantum Bridge-specific DS1 extensions on top of that base standard. It is deployed on Quantum Bridge circuit-emulation/access devices used to transport legacy DS1 TDM circuits over a packet-switched (Ethernet/IP) backbone, and a QB-CESV2-MIB download is the usual starting point for catching jitter-buffer underrun or overrun conditions before voice/data quality degrades.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in QB-CESV2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Quantum Bridge QB5000/QB100 optical access platform (DS1 circuit emulation, acquired by Motorola in 2004)
Monitoring Examples
Since the source extract captured no sample object names for this module (sample_objects is empty), a concrete object-level walkthrough can't be grounded in real identifiers; in general, an operator would expect to poll the module's DS1/jitter-buffer configuration objects to confirm the emulated circuit's buffer depth and encapsulation mode are set correctly, and to check for jitter-buffer underrun/overrun conditions that would indicate a degraded TDM emulation path.
What Can Be Monitored
- DS1 circuit emulation configuration
- jitter buffer parameters
- TDM encapsulation mode
