Category: DS1 and T-Carrier, DSL and Broadband Access

Description: Manages Quantum Bridge DS1/T1 physical interface configuration, line coding, framing, and performance monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is QB-DS1-MIB?

QB-DS1-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Quantum Bridge Communications extending the standard IETF DS1/E1 MIB with additional objects for managing DS1 (T1) physical layer links on Quantum Bridge access/aggregation devices. It supplements the standard DS1 objects with vendor-specific configuration for line coding, framing format, and related physical-layer parameters, plus additional performance monitoring data beyond what the base DS1 MIB provides. Its monitoring role is centered on physical-layer transmission health — line coding/framing errors, signal degradation, and performance statistics on T1 spans that indicate a failing cable, misconfigured framing, or carrier-side circuit problem. It explicitly builds on and extends the standard DS1 MIB (RFC 2495/3895) and associated IETF drafts rather than replacing them. It is typically deployed on Quantum Bridge broadband access multiplexers/aggregation platforms carrying DS1/T1 circuits to end customers or backhaul, and technicians can download the QB-DS1-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in QB-DS1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Quantum Bridge access/aggregation devices with DS1/T1 interfaces

Monitoring Examples

Because no concrete sample object names were captured for this module, a specific table/object polling scenario cannot be described with confidence; in practice an operator would expect to combine this MIB's vendor-specific line coding/framing configuration objects with the standard dsx1 performance tables (errored seconds, severely errored seconds) to detect a degrading T1 span.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DS1 line coding configuration
  • DS1 framing format
  • DS1 physical-layer performance statistics
