Description: Extends standard IEEE 802.1D bridge MIB with Paradyne-specific spanning-tree and port-forwarding configuration objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PDN-BRIDGE-EXT-MIB?

PDN-BRIDGE-EXT-MIB is a Paradyne/Zhone Technologies enterprise MIB extending the IETF standard BRIDGE-MIB (802.1D) with additional per-port and traffic-profile configuration objects. It exposes extended bridge-port attributes such as maximum forwarding-database entries, port role, unknown-multicast forwarding mode, and outer VLAN tag/priority/ethertype for QinQ-style stacked VLANs, plus a traffic-profile table for rate-limiting or QoS-like profiles applied per bridge entity. Its monitoring purpose is bridging configuration/capacity health -- confirming each port's FDB size limit and unknown-multicast forwarding behavior are set as intended, and that QinQ outer-tag parameters match the provisioned VLAN stacking scheme, affecting how subscriber traffic is switched and isolated. It explicitly depends on and extends the standard BRIDGE-MIB, reusing its dot1dBasePort indexing for the extension table. It is deployed on Paradyne/Zhone Ethernet-bridging DSL access equipment needing QinQ/VLAN-stacking and traffic-profile features beyond plain 802.1D bridging. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the PDN-BRIDGE-EXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-BRIDGE-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Paradyne/Zhone Ethernet-bridging DSL access equipment

Monitoring Examples

An operator reads pdnDot1dBasePortExtTable/Entry (indexed by the standard dot1dBasePort) to check pdnDot1dBasePortMaxFdbEntries against the actual learned-address count, catching a port about to exhaust its forwarding table. pdnDot1dBasePortOuterTag/OuterPriority/OuterEthertype confirm the QinQ outer-tag parameters match the intended VLAN-stacking design for subscriber isolation. pdnDot1dTrafficProfileTable/Entry (via pdnDot1dTrafficProfileIndex) lets an admin verify which traffic profile is applied to a given bridge context.

What Can Be Monitored

  • bridge port FDB size limit
  • unknown multicast forwarding mode
  • QinQ outer VLAN tag/priority/ethertype
  • traffic profile assignment per bridge entity
