Description: Manages access point radio, SSID, and security profile configuration on Nortel NTWS wireless LAN controllers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is NTWS-AP-CONFIG-MIB?

NTWS-AP-CONFIG-MIB is a Nortel Networks vendor MIB for its NTWS wireless LAN product line, covering configuration management of Access Points (APs) attached to an NTWS Access Controller (wireless switch). It exposes per-AP configuration data organized in ntwsApConfApConfigTable, including physical attachment type and port number, serial number, model name, hardware fingerprint, bias/timeout settings, and administrative name/contact information. Its role is primarily software/configuration status monitoring: an administrator uses it to verify each AP is correctly registered and provisioned on the controller (correct model, serial number, attach type, and timeout settings) rather than to read live performance counters, which are covered by the companion NTWS-AP-STATUS-MIB. It works alongside other Nortel NTWS MIBs, most notably NTWS-AP-STATUS-MIB for operational state and NTWS-CLIENT-SESSION-MIB for client data, all sharing the AP/AC (Access Point/Access Controller) architecture. It is deployed on Nortel NTWS wireless switches (Access Controllers) managing fleets of thin access points in enterprise WLAN deployments. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the NTWS-AP-CONFIG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NTWS-AP-CONFIG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nortel NTWS wireless LAN controllers (Access Controllers) and managed thin Access Points

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll ntwsApConfApConfigTable/ntwsApConfApConfigEntry, keying on ntwsApConfApConfigApNum, to confirm each AP's ntwsApConfApConfigApSerialNum and ntwsApConfApConfigApModelName match inventory records, and check ntwsApConfApConfigApTimeout and ntwsApConfApConfigBias for correct provisioning. An AP entry with an unexpected ntwsApConfApConfigApAttachType or a missing/mismatched ntwsApConfApConfigFingerprint would reveal a misconfigured or unauthorized access point on the controller.

What Can Be Monitored

  • AP configuration table (per-AP settings)
  • AP serial number and model
  • AP attach type and physical port
  • AP timeout/bias settings
  • AP name and contact info
  • AP hardware fingerprint
