Description: Defines textual conventions for client session state, authentication type, and mobility roles in Nortel NTWS MIBs.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is NTWS-CLIENT-SESSION-TC?
NTWS-CLIENT-SESSION-TC is a Nortel Networks textual-conventions (TC) module supporting the Nortel wireless switch (NTWS) MIB family, defining shared data types for client session state, authentication type, and mobility role rather than any object instances of its own. As a TC-only module it does not itself expose pollable operational data; instead it standardizes how other Nortel wireless-switch MIBs represent concepts like whether a client session is authenticated, roaming, or in a particular mobility role. Because it defines no runtime objects, it has no direct hardware or software status monitoring value on its own; its purpose is purely to ensure consistent, reusable data typing across the broader Nortel wireless-switch MIB set. Its dependency relationship runs in the opposite direction from most MIBs: other NTWS MIBs (client session, mobility, security) depend on the textual conventions defined here. It would be encountered wherever Nortel Networks (later Avaya) wireless switch/controller MIBs are loaded together as a supporting definitions file, not deployed or polled in isolation. Engineers can download the NTWS-CLIENT-SESSION-TC file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NTWS-CLIENT-SESSION-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
This module defines no runtime data objects of its own; it only supplies shared TEXTUAL-CONVENTION type definitions (for session state, auth type, mobility role) that are referenced by other Nortel wireless-switch MIBs. Consequently there is no realistic standalone SNMP polling scenario to describe for NTWS-CLIENT-SESSION-TC; any monitoring happens through the sibling MIBs that import these type definitions.
