Category: WAN

Description: Manages the Metro1500 access multiplexer configuration, interfaces, and alarm status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is METRO1500-MIB?

METRO1500-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module for the Metro1500 access multiplexer, a metro-access/transport aggregation device, defining objects for device inventory, bus-level health, event logging, and trap-sink configuration. It exposes manufacturer, model, serial number, and hardware/software version identity, alongside internal system bus message and error counters and a last-event/message-of-the-day field. Its bus message/error counters and last-event object are the key hardware/software health indicators -- rising metro1500MainBusErrors against metro1500MainBusMessages signals an internal communications or backplane problem within the multiplexer chassis, while metro1500MainLastEvent gives operators the most recent significant event without needing to parse a full log. The module also defines a trapsink table letting the device forward its own traps to one or more NMS destinations, and it appears to be a self-contained enterprise MIB without strong dependency on external standard MIBs. It is deployed on Metro1500 access multiplexer chassis used in metro-area network access/aggregation nodes, and operators managing these chassis typically start with a METRO1500-MIB download to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in METRO1500-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Metro1500 access multiplexer

Monitoring Examples

An operator would monitor metro1500MainBusErrors relative to metro1500MainBusMessages to catch a degrading internal bus before it causes multiplexer-wide faults, and check metro1500MainLastEvent for the most recent significant condition logged by the device. metro1500MainHardwareVersion and metro1500MainSoftwareVersion would be checked during a fleet audit to confirm consistent firmware levels, while metro1500MainTrapsinkTable/metro1500MainTrapsinkEntry is reviewed to ensure the device is correctly configured to forward alerts to the NOC's trap receiver.

What Can Be Monitored

  • internal bus message/error counters
  • last significant event
  • hardware/software version
  • trap-sink/alert forwarding configuration
  • device serial number/identity
