Description: Defines textual conventions for next-generation DSL line management MIB modules per ADSLMIB Working Group.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is NGDSL-LINE-TC-MIB?
NGDSL-LINE-TC-MIB is a vendor-neutral IETF (ADSLMIB Working Group) MIB module that defines Textual Conventions (shared data types) for use by the companion NGDSL-LINE-MIB, rather than a management MIB with its own runtime objects. It supports the management of next-generation DSL line types including ADSL, ADSL2, and ADSL2+, standardizing how values like line rates, coding gains, and status codes are represented across implementations. As a pure textual-conventions module it has no object or notification definitions of its own, so it does not directly expose monitorable hardware/software status; instead it underpins the data typing used by the actual NGDSL-LINE-MIB that does expose line status, rates, and performance counters. It is explicitly and entirely dependent on being imported by NGDSL-LINE-MIB and other next-generation DSL MIBs conforming to the IETF ADSLMIB framework. It is deployed wherever standards-based DSL line management is implemented, across any vendor's ADSL2/ADSL2+-capable DSLAM or CPE modem. Engineers implementing or auditing this functionality typically reference the NGDSL-LINE-TC-MIB RFC/standard documentation for the authoritative specification.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NGDSL-LINE-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, not tied to a specific manufacturer
- ADSL2/ADSL2+ DSLAM or CPE modem
Monitoring Examples
As a Textual Conventions module, NGDSL-LINE-TC-MIB defines no runtime data objects or tables of its own (no sample objects were listed), so there is no monitoring scenario to describe honestly; its type definitions are consumed by NGDSL-LINE-MIB, where actual DSL line rate and status objects would be polled.
