Description: Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet switch MIB for firmware image management including upload, activate, and version control objects.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ME1200-FIRMWARE-MIB?
This is a Cisco private MIB module for the ME1200 Metro Ethernet switch that manages firmware image inventory, upload, and activation. It exposes tables of firmware images present on the device (and per-switch in a stack), including image name, version, build date, code revision, and upload status. Its central monitoring use is tracking software version/status on the device: an operator can confirm which firmware image is active, verify the running code revision matches the intended release, and monitor the progress or success/failure of an in-progress firmware upload before rebooting the switch. As a proprietary Cisco module it has no direct dependency on a standard IETF MIB, though it parallels the role of entity/software MIBs on other platforms. It is used in Metro Ethernet deployments to manage firmware consistency and coordinate software upgrades across a fleet or stack of ME1200 switches. Engineers can download the ME1200-FIRMWARE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ME1200-FIRMWARE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco ME 1200 Ethernet Access Device
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll me1200FirmwareStatusImageTable / me1200FirmwareStatusImageEntry to read ImageVersion, ImageBuiltDate, and ImageCodeRevision, confirming the switch is running the expected firmware release after a maintenance window. me1200FirmwareStatusImageUploadStatus would be monitored during a remote firmware push to detect a failed or stalled upload before activation. me1200FirmwareStatusSwitchTable indexed by me1200FirmwareStatusSwitchSwitchId lets an operator check firmware consistency across all members of a switch stack.
What Can Be Monitored
- active firmware image version
- firmware build date/code revision
- firmware upload status
- per-switch firmware status in a stack
- image type/name
