Category: Device Management

Description: ANI Networks branch MIB for network device configuration and status management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ANIC-MIB?

ANIC-MIB is a legacy proprietary MIB (enterprise OID 429, Analog Modem NIC in a NAS chassis) letting an administrator issue remote commands to individual analog-modem NIC cards. Its command table, keyed by index, records management-station ID, request ID, function, force flag, parameter, result, and code, while a configuration table records modem/DTE ring-no-answer trap enable, ring threshold, and line status. As a configuration/control MIB it lets an administrator trigger a remote action on a specific analog-modem NIC and confirm line status in a NAS chassis. It is deployed on legacy Network Access Server (NAS) chassis with analog modem NIC cards. Engineers can download the ANIC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ANIC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • U.S. Robotics NETServer/Total Control Network Access Server chassis with analog modem NIC cards (legacy)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator uses anicCmdFunction to trigger a remote reset action on a specific analog-modem NIC and checks anicCfgLineStatus to confirm the result in a NAS chassis.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-NIC remote command execution and line status
