Category: Quality of Service, Technology: QoS, Vendor: Cisco
Description: MIB for the Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet switch that manages Hierarchical QoS (HQoS) configuration across ports, queues, and shapers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ME1200-HQOS-MIB?
This is a Cisco private MIB for the ME1200 Metro Ethernet access switch, managing Hierarchical Quality of Service (HQoS) configuration such as per-interface scheduling mode, queue shaping, and rate limiting. It exposes a configuration table (me1200HqosConfigInterfaceTable) with per-interface HQoS settings and a nested per-queue/shaper table controlling DWRR queue counts, shaper enablement, and shaper/minimum rates. Its role is primarily configuration and traffic-management monitoring rather than raw hardware fault detection: verifying that bandwidth shaping and scheduling policies are applied as intended on each port, which is critical in carrier-Ethernet access networks with strict SLA commitments. It is Cisco-proprietary and used alongside other ME1200 private MIBs (LLDP, SysUtil) rather than any general IETF QoS MIB. It is deployed at metro/access network edges where service providers enforce hierarchical bandwidth shaping per subscriber or service, and ME1200-HQOS-MIB SNMP monitoring confirms those shaping and scheduling policies remain applied as intended.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ME1200-HQOS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
A service provider engineer would poll me1200HqosConfigInterfaceHqosShaperEnable and me1200HqosConfigInterfaceHqosShaperRate to confirm a subscriber port is correctly capped at its contracted bandwidth. me1200HqosConfigInterfaceHqosDwrrCount and me1200HqosConfigInterfaceHqosMinRate would be checked when investigating uneven queue servicing causing certain traffic classes to be starved. me1200HqosConfigInterfaceSchMode reveals whether a port is using strict-priority or weighted scheduling, important when diagnosing latency-sensitive service degradation.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-interface HQoS scheduling mode
- shaper enable/rate per queue
- minimum guaranteed rate per queue
- DWRR queue count configuration
