What Is LUM-IFBASIC-MIB?

LUM-IFBASIC-MIB is an Infinera proprietary module for managing basic port and interface objects on Infinera optical/network elements. It exposes general interface information (names, table sizes, and last-change timestamps), administrative configuration state, and signal-related status for each interface, organized into General, If, Admin, and Signal groups. Its monitoring value is primarily interface and configuration status: it lets an operator see how many interfaces exist, when their configuration or operational state last changed, and the current administrative/signal condition of each port. It works alongside Infinera's broader family of element-management MIBs, complementing standard IF-MIB-style interface concepts with vendor-specific detail. It is typically deployed on Infinera transport/optical network elements where operators track interface configuration churn and signal health as part of network element monitoring. Engineers can download the LUM-IFBASIC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LUM-IFBASIC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll ifBasicIfTable/ifBasicIfEntry alongside ifBasicGeneralIfBasicIfConfigLastChangeTime and ifBasicGeneralIfBasicIfStateLastChangeTime to see which ports have recently changed configuration or operational state. An unexpected recent state-change timestamp on a port, combined with the ifBasicGeneralIfBasicSignalStateLastChangeTime, would flag a signal flap or interface state transition worth investigating.
