Category: Domain: Optical Transport, Textual Conventions and Registries, Vendor: Infinera

Description: Infinera Corporation SNMP MIB registration module defining the OID hierarchy root for Infinera optical network equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LUM-REG?

LUM-REG is a vendor-specific registration module (originally from Transmode, now part of Infinera) that defines the root OID hierarchy for the Lum enterprise branch used by Infinera/Transmode optical networking equipment MIBs. It carries no runtime scalar or tabular objects itself, serving only to declare the top-level OID arcs under which the vendor's various optical-transport MIBs register their chassis, card, and port objects. It therefore has no direct role in reporting hardware or software status such as temperature or uptime; that data is exposed by the more specific MIBs built beneath this registration root. Every other Infinera/Transmode Lum-branch MIB depends on this module for consistent OID placement within the vendor's enterprise tree. It is used exclusively in the context of Infinera (formerly Transmode) optical networking transport equipment, and engineers commonly load LUM-REG into a MIB Browser purely to resolve the enterprise arc before importing the rest of the vendor's MIB suite.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LUM-REG. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Infinera (formerly Transmode) optical transport equipment (any generation, enterprise OID root)

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only OID registration nodes for the Transmode/Infinera enterprise tree and contains no monitorable objects, so there is no runtime monitoring scenario to describe; it exists purely to anchor the OID namespace for other Infinera optical-equipment MIBs.
