What Is C-PRODUCT-OC3-MIB?
C-PRODUCT-OC3-MIB manages OC-3/STM-1 optical (SONET/SDH) interfaces on C-PRODUCT ATM access platforms, covering port configuration and ATM cell-level statistics similar to its HSSI sibling MIB. It exposes per-port configuration objects including loopback type, peak rate, scrambling, SONET timing source, SONET mode, and transmit/receive circuit identifiers, along with statistics for received ATM cells and counters resettable via oc3PortResetStats. Its monitoring purpose is optical link and traffic health: loopback and timing settings reveal whether a port is properly synchronized to the network clock, and cell statistics trends show utilization and potential cell loss on the OC-3 link, both key indicators of physical-layer or framing problems on the SONET circuit. It is an ATM-over-SONET vendor MIB that depends on the shared C-PRODUCT-BASE-MIB for system context and typically coexists with standard SONET/ATM interface MIBs. Deployment context is carrier ATM access/aggregation platforms using OC-3 optical trunks, monitored for link quality and provisioning accuracy, typically by loading the module into a C-PRODUCT-OC3-MIB MIB Browser session for interactive object inspection.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in C-PRODUCT-OC3-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- C-PRODUCT series ATM access platform with OC-3/STM-1 optical interfaces
Monitoring Examples
An operator would check oc3PortTiming to confirm a port is deriving clock from the correct source (line vs internal) and verify oc3PortSonetMode matches the expected SONET/SDH framing for the far end. Polling oc3PortStatsTable/oc3PortStatsEntry for oc3PortRxCells over time reveals traffic trends, and an operator would use oc3PortResetStats after a maintenance event to baseline counters. Mismatched oc3PortXmtCktId/oc3PortRcvCktId identifiers between two ends of a circuit would indicate a provisioning error causing the OC-3 link to be cross-connected incorrectly.
What Can Be Monitored
- port loopback mode
- SONET timing source and mode
- transmit/receive circuit identifiers
- received ATM cell counts
- resettable interface statistics
