What Is Juniper-ATM-1483-Profile-MIB?

Juniper-ATM-1483-Profile-MIB is a Juniper Networks vendor-specific MIB for JUNOSe (E-series) routers that defines reusable configuration profiles for RFC 1483/2684 ATM bridged and routed (VC-Mux or LLC) encapsulation on bulk ATM subinterfaces. Its central juniAtm1483ProfileTable, indexed by juniAtm1483ProfileId, carries per-profile encapsulation type (juniAtm1483ProfileVccType), ATM service category and traffic contract (juniAtm1483ProfileVccServiceCategory, VccPcr, VccScr, VccMbs), OAM administrative status and loopback frequency, and an ifAlias applied to every subinterface created from the profile; related tables handle auto-configuration lockout timing (juniAtm1483ProfileAutoConfTable), nested profile assignment per encapsulation type, and subscriber identity defaults for dynamic IPoA. Because profiles are applied in bulk to many ATM subinterfaces at once, a single misconfigured profile object (e.g. a wrong VccServiceCategory or PCR/SCR value) can affect every circuit provisioned from it, making profile-level monitoring an efficient way to catch systemic ATM circuit misconfiguration before it shows up as per-circuit cell loss. It depends on profile names being coordinated through the Juniper-PROFILE-MIB juniProfileNameTable, and the Juniper-ATM-1483-Profile-MIB MIB is deployed on Juniper E-series routers terminating bulk ATM access circuits.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-ATM-1483-Profile-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper Networks E-series (JUNOSe) routers

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls juniAtm1483ProfileVccPcr and juniAtm1483ProfileVccScr for a profile shared by hundreds of DSL/ATM subscriber circuits; a PCR value lower than the aggregate traffic those subscribers actually generate would explain widespread cell discard across every circuit provisioned from that profile.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ATM encapsulation type per profile (VC-Mux/LLC/autoconfig)
  • ATM service category and traffic contract (PCR/SCR/MBS)
  • OAM administrative status and loopback frequency
  • auto-configuration lockout timing
  • subscriber identity/domain defaults for dynamic IPoA
