Description: Intel IPX protocol MIB providing SNMP objects for Novell IPX routing, SAP, and RIP configuration and monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is INTEL-IPX-MIB?

INTEL-IPX-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for configuring and monitoring Novell IPX routing, SAP, and RIP behavior on Intel routing/access equipment. It exposes a per-link IPX configuration table covering routing protocol, network number, frame type, and RIP update/trigger timers. Its monitoring emphasis is on protocol/software configuration state rather than hardware sensors, letting an admin confirm that IPX routing links are correctly configured, numbered, and actively exchanging routes. It depends on interface-indexing conventions similar to IF-MIB, since IPX link configuration entries are keyed by a link index tied to the physical/logical interface. It is deployed on legacy Intel routers/gateways operating in Novell NetWare IPX network environments, largely of historical interest today. Engineers can download the INTEL-IPX-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in INTEL-IPX-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Intel router/access equipment running legacy Novell IPX routing

Monitoring Examples

ipxLinkConfTable/ipxLinkConfEntry keyed by ipxLinkConfIpxLinkIndex exposes ipxLinkConfRoutingProtocol, ipxLinkConfFrameType, and ipxLinkConfNet to verify a link is configured with the correct IPX network number and frame type. ipxLinkConfRipUpdateInterval and ipxLinkConfRipTrigger reveal RIP timer settings, and a frame-type mismatch between two ends of a link (visible by comparing ipxLinkConfFrameType values) would explain an IPX routing adjacency failure.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IPX link routing protocol
  • IPX network number and frame type
  • RIP update interval
  • RIP trigger updates
  • numbered vs unnumbered link configuration
