Description: Intel channel service unit (CSU) hardware MIB providing SNMP objects for T1/E1 CSU/DSU configuration and performance.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is INTEL-CSU-HW-MIB?

INTEL-CSU-HW-MIB is an Intel vendor-specific MIB providing hardware-level statistics and configuration for Intel's CSU/DSU T1/E1 line interface, explicitly designed as a value-add layer on top of, and independent from, the standard DS1 MIB in RFC 1406. Its csuInfoTable exposes real-time line-health objects per interface — csuAlarm (red/blue/yellow/out-of-framing), csuReceiveLevel, csuLoopbackState, and counters such as csuLossofsynchronization, csuChangeofFrameAlignment, csuSeverelyErroredFramingEvent, csuB8ZSCodeWordDetect, csuFrameBitError, csuLineCodeViolationCount, csuCRC6errors, csuYellowAlarmCount, and csuAISDefects — alongside csuConfigTable objects (csuChannelBandwidth, csuLineBuildOut, csuLineCode, csuFramingFormat, csuTimingMode) and a csuFracTable tracking fractional T1 channel usage (csuFracInUse vs csuFracDetected). This makes it useful for monitoring T1/E1 CSU hardware health directly — an active csuAlarm value other than csuAlarmNone, a nonzero csuErrorsThisSecond, or a low csuPercentEFS would indicate a degrading or misconfigured T1 line. It depends on INTEL-GEN-MIB for its mib2ext registration point and is deployed alongside the standard DS1 MIB on Intel CSU/DSU hardware terminating leased T1/E1 circuits, and administrators can download the INTEL-CSU-HW-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in INTEL-CSU-HW-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Intel CSU/DSU T1/E1 hardware modules

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls csuInfoTable's csuAlarm and csuPercentEFS per line interface to catch a T1 circuit degrading, then checks csuLineCodeViolationCount and csuCRC6errors for rising error trends; a csuAlarm value of csuAlarmRED combined with a dropping csuPercentEFS would point to a broken or unplugged T1 cable.

What Can Be Monitored

  • CSU alarm state (red/blue/yellow/out-of-framing)
  • receive signal level and loopback state
  • frame/line/path code violation counters
  • CRC6 error and AIS defect counters
  • T1 channel bandwidth/line-code/framing configuration
  • fractional T1 channel in-use vs detected status
