Category: Protocol: DHCP, Vendor: Intel

Description: Intel DHCP server MIB providing SNMP management objects for monitoring and configuring Intel's DHCP server service.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is INTEL-DHCPS-MIB?

INTEL-DHCPS-MIB is Intel's proprietary MIB for monitoring and configuring Intel's DHCP server software service. It exposes both live lease/binding information -- host IP address, MAC address, hostname, lease age, and binding state -- and server-side configuration data such as configured scope/handle identifiers and types. Its monitoring value centers on software service status: tracking DHCP lease bindings lets an operator verify the DHCP service is actively assigning addresses correctly, detect stale or duplicate leases, and confirm the service's configuration matches intended scopes, functioning as a service-health view into the DHCP server process. It is a self-contained Intel module though conceptually parallels (without directly depending on) the IETF DHCP protocol standards it manages. It is typically deployed on servers or appliances running Intel's DHCP server software where administrators want SNMP-based visibility into lease activity and server configuration. Engineers can download the INTEL-DHCPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in INTEL-DHCPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • servers/appliances running Intel DHCP server software

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll dhcpsInfoTable, indexed by dhcpsInfoHostAddress, to review dhcpsInfoMacAddress, dhcpsInfoHostName, dhcpsInfoAge, and dhcpsInfoState for each active lease, watching for unusually old dhcpsInfoAge values or an unexpected dhcpsInfoState that could indicate lease renewal problems. dhcpsConfInfoTable, keyed by dhcpsConfInfoId, would be checked via dhcpsConfInfoHandle and dhcpsConfInfoType to confirm the DHCP server's configured scopes match what's expected, revealing a misconfiguration if a scope is missing or of the wrong type.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active DHCP lease bindings (IP/MAC/hostname)
  • lease age
  • lease binding state
  • configured DHCP scope identifiers and types
