Description: Huawei PWE3 (Pseudowire Emulation Edge-to-Edge) MIB for managing pseudowire connections, labels, and service parameters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-PWE3-MIB?

HUAWEI-PWE3-MIB is a Huawei enterprise MIB for managing Pseudowire Emulation Edge-to-Edge (PWE3), a technology that carries Layer 2 services (such as Ethernet, ATM, or Frame Relay) transparently over an MPLS or IP packet-switched network. No sample objects were available in the source, but based on standard PWE3 modeling it would typically expose pseudowire configuration (peer address, VC ID/label, encapsulation type) and per-pseudowire operational status and traffic counters. Administrators use it to monitor the software/service status of individual pseudowire connections, such as whether a PW is up or down and how much traffic it is carrying, which is critical for detecting a broken Layer 2 VPN service. It conceptually aligns with the IETF PW-STD-MIB/PW-TC-MIB framework though implemented as a Huawei proprietary module. It is deployed on Huawei MPLS-capable routers/switches providing Layer 2 VPN pseudowire services to carrier or enterprise customers. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-PWE3-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-PWE3-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei MPLS router/switch (PWE3-capable)

Monitoring Examples

Without concrete sample object names available for this module, a specific grounded monitoring scenario referencing real objects cannot be constructed; typically an admin would poll a pseudowire table for operational status, VC label, and peer address per pseudowire entry to confirm each PW is up and passing traffic, with a down status indicating a PW failure affecting the Layer 2 VPN service.

What Can Be Monitored

  • pseudowire operational status
  • VC label/ID
  • peer PE address
  • pseudowire traffic counters
