Description: Huawei ATM MIB for managing Asynchronous Transfer Mode interfaces, virtual circuits, and traffic parameters on Huawei ATM equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-ATM-MIB?

HUAWEI-ATM-MIB is Huawei's proprietary MIB for managing Asynchronous Transfer Mode interfaces and virtual circuits, specifically covering ATM OC-3/STM-1 and OC-12/STM-4 physical interfaces, IP-over-ATM (IPoA) and IPoEoA encapsulation, PVC service types, OAM F5 loopback testing, VP-limit parameters, and the mapping between peer and local VPI values. It exposes configuration and status objects for these interface types and virtual-circuit/path relationships, layered on top of the underlying physical SONET/SDH-rate interface. Its monitoring value spans both hardware and software status: interface-level detection of OC-3/OC-12 line issues, PVC/VP state and VPI-mapping correctness, and OAM F5 loopback results used to verify end-to-end ATM path health without disrupting traffic. It builds on standard ATM interface conventions (similar in spirit to RFC 2515's ATM-MIB) while being a distinct Huawei implementation. It is deployed on Huawei ATM-capable routers and switches in carrier and enterprise WAN backbones still carrying ATM-encapsulated traffic, and engineers can download the HUAWEI-ATM-MIB file to load into their network management systems.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-ATM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei ATM-capable routers and switches

Monitoring Examples

An engineer checks the ATM PVC configuration to confirm the mapping between local and peer VPI values matches the intended circuit topology, and validates the VP-limit setting hasn't been exceeded on a heavily provisioned OC-12/STM-4 interface. Running an OAM F5 loopback test on a given PVC and checking its result reveals whether the ATM path is intact end-to-end, useful for isolating an intermittent circuit fault. IPoA/IPoEoA encapsulation settings are checked when IP connectivity over a PVC fails despite the PVC itself being up.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ATM interface status (OC-3/STM-1, OC-12/STM-4)
  • PVC/VC configuration and state
  • VPI mapping (local vs. peer)
  • OAM F5 loopback test results
  • VP limit utilization
