Description: Huawei multilink PPP group MIB for managing MP bundle groups, member links, and aggregate bandwidth statistics.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-MP-GROUP-MIB?
HUAWEI-MP-GROUP-MIB is a Huawei MIB for managing Multilink PPP (MP) groups, which bundle multiple physical links (typically serial or ISDN) into one logical link to increase aggregate bandwidth and provide redundancy. It exposes configuration data for MP bundle groups and their detection timers, plus notification objects for group-related events. Its monitoring value spans both configuration and fault detection: the failure-detection timer and notifications reveal the physical link health of member links, so an admin can tell when a member link has dropped out of the bundle and reduced available bandwidth. It is a Huawei implementation of the standard Multilink PPP concept (RFC 1990) layered on top of standard PPP interface objects. It is deployed on Huawei WAN edge routers using multilink PPP over serial, ISDN, or leased-line interfaces for bandwidth aggregation. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-MP-GROUP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-MP-GROUP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei WAN routers with multilink PPP support
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll hwMpGroupTable to see each configured MP bundle and its hwMpGroupDetectTime, the interval used to detect a failed member link. When a member link drops, a notification under hwMpGroupNotifications (identified via hwMpGroupTrapOid) alerts the admin to reduced aggregate bandwidth on that bundle, prompting a check of the underlying physical link. The hwMpGroupConformance/hwMpGroupGroups/hwMpGroupCompliances branches are standard SMI conformance statements rather than runtime data.
What Can Be Monitored
- MP bundle group membership
- link failure detection timer
- aggregate bundle bandwidth
- member link up/down notifications
