Description: Huawei DHCP relay MIB for managing DHCP relay agent configuration, server group assignments, and relay statistics on Huawei routing platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-DHCPR-MIB?
HUAWEI-DHCPR-MIB is a Huawei enterprise MIB for managing the DHCP Relay Agent feature on Huawei routing/switching platforms, covering relay-specific IP address configuration, DHCP server group assignment, allocation-mode selection, and relay traffic statistics. It exposes configuration data (which IP addresses and server groups a relay interface uses, and which allocation mode is selected) plus operational counters tracking relay message statistics. Its monitoring value is on the software/service side: the statistics reveal whether DHCP relay traffic (discovers, offers, requests, acks forwarded between clients and servers) is flowing normally or whether relay failures/drops are occurring, important for diagnosing client IP-assignment problems. It is a self-contained Huawei enterprise MIB, though it conceptually parallels IETF DHCP-related MIB work and is used alongside standard interface (IF-MIB) objects to associate relay behavior with a specific interface. It is deployed on Huawei routers/switches acting as DHCP relay agents at the network edge, forwarding client DHCP traffic to centralized DHCP servers, and engineers can download the HUAWEI-DHCPR-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-DHCPR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei routers and switches acting as DHCP relay agents
Monitoring Examples
No sample_objects were supplied for this module, so specific object/table names cannot be confirmed from source; based on the module description, an admin would typically poll relay statistics counters to verify DHCP discover/request messages are being successfully relayed to the configured server group, and check relay IP/server-group configuration if clients on a given interface stop receiving addresses. A spike in relay error/drop statistics without corresponding successful acks would reveal a reachability problem to the DHCP server group or a misconfigured allocation mode.
What Can Be Monitored
- DHCP relay server group configuration
- relay allocation mode
- DHCP relay message statistics
- relay interface IP address configuration
