Description: Huawei SHDSL (Symmetric High-Speed DSL) MIB for managing SHDSL line profiles, performance counters, and alarm thresholds.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-SHDSL-MIB?

HUAWEI-SHDSL-MIB is a Huawei enterprise MIB for Symmetric High-speed DSL (SHDSL) line management, extending the standard IETF HDSL2-SHDSL-LINE-MIB (RFC 4319) with Huawei-specific line profile and alarm objects. It exposes configuration data (line profiles, rate/mode settings) alongside performance counters and alarm thresholds for SHDSL copper-line transceivers. Its core monitoring use is hardware/line health: tracking signal quality, error-second counts, and threshold-crossing alarms that reveal a degrading or failing copper line before it drops. It explicitly depends on and extends the standard HDSL2-SHDSL-LINE-MIB, so it should be read alongside that RFC-defined module. Typical deployment is on Huawei DSL access multiplexers (DSLAMs) or broadband gateways delivering symmetric DSL service to business or backhaul customers. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-SHDSL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-SHDSL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei DSLAM
  • Huawei SHDSL line card
  • Huawei broadband access device

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll SHDSL performance counters (modeled on the standard shdsl line-table performance entries this MIB extends) alongside Huawei-specific alarm-threshold objects to catch a line whose error-second count is climbing, signaling impending SHDSL circuit failure due to line noise or a physical fault.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SHDSL line profile settings
  • line performance counters
  • error seconds
  • alarm threshold status
