Description: Huawei DHCP server MIB providing objects for address pool management, lease configuration, and DHCP server statistics on Huawei devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-DHCPS-MIB?

HUAWEI-DHCPS-MIB is Huawei's proprietary DHCP server MIB, used to configure and monitor the device's built-in DHCP server function, including global and per-interface address-pool configuration, lease parameters, and address-conflict recycle timers (as referenced by its global/interface pool-conflict recycle-time objects). Its data spans address-pool configuration, lease-state statistics, and server-level counters. Its monitoring value is software/service status: confirming address pools aren't exhausted, tracking how quickly conflicting/recycled addresses are reclaimed, and detecting DHCP-server-level errors that would prevent clients from obtaining an IP lease. It is typically used alongside standard interface and IP-address MIBs, since DHCP pool scope is tied to specific interfaces or VLANs on the device. It is deployed on Huawei routers and switches acting as a DHCP server for LAN/access-network clients, common in branch and campus deployments. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-DHCPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-DHCPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei routers and switches (acting as DHCP server)

Monitoring Examples

An admin checks the global and per-interface pool conflict-recycle-time settings (hwDHCPSGlobalPoolConflictRecycleTime and hwDHCPSInterfacePoolConflictRecycleTime) to confirm how quickly conflicting leases are freed back into the pool, and cross-references pool utilization to detect a pool nearing exhaustion. A pool consistently near capacity combined with a long recycle timer would indicate clients are failing to obtain leases and the recycle interval should be shortened.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DHCP address pool configuration and utilization
  • lease state/expiration
  • address-conflict recycle timers (global and per-interface)
  • DHCP server error/statistics
