Category: Device Management, Vendor: H3C/HH3C, Vendor: HP/HPE

Description: Manages network management system integration objects including NMS address configuration on HP/Comware devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPN-ICF-NET-MAN-MIB?

HPN-ICF-NET-MAN-MIB is an HP/H3C Comware (ICF) enterprise MIB that provides network management identification objects, particularly for devices operating in dynamic address assignment environments such as DHCP. It exposes configuration objects like the device's management IP address/type and build/serial identification, along with monitor and notification groupings. Administrators use it primarily to track a device's current identity and software build information so it can be reliably located and inventoried even when its IP address changes dynamically, serving a software/asset-tracking monitoring role rather than deep performance metrics. It is part of HP's broader ICF (Intelligent Configuration Framework) MIB family and complements standard network management identification practices. It is typically deployed on HP/H3C Comware switches and routers in networks using DHCP-assigned management addresses. Engineers can download the HPN-ICF-NET-MAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-NET-MAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP/H3C Comware switch or router

Monitoring Examples

An NMS would poll hpnicfNMIpAddress and hpnicfNMIpAddressType to discover a device's current management address after a DHCP renewal, then cross-check hpnicfNMSerialNum and hpnicfNMCustomBuildInfo to confirm device identity and firmware build haven't unexpectedly changed. The hpnicfNMNotify family of objects can be used to receive notifications when the device's management address changes, letting the NMS automatically update its inventory rather than losing contact with the device.

What Can Be Monitored

  • management IP address and type
  • device serial number
  • custom build/firmware information
  • network address change notifications
