Description: HP ICF SNMP MIB for IEEE 802.1ad Provider Bridge (QinQ) S-VLAN and C-VLAN configuration on HP ProCurve switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HP-ICF-PROVIDER-BRIDGE?

HP-ICF-PROVIDER-BRIDGE is HP's implementation of the IEEE 802.1ad Provider Bridge (Q-in-Q) standard, adapted with HP proprietary extensions for ProCurve switches. It exposes configuration objects for service VLANs (S-VLANs) and customer VLANs (C-VLANs) used to tunnel customer traffic across a service-provider backbone. Being a configuration MIB, its use is chiefly to verify that VLAN stacking/tagging rules are correctly provisioned rather than to report hardware health, though incorrect S-VLAN/C-VLAN mapping would show up as a service fault. It explicitly depends on the standard 802.1ad Provider Bridge MIB structure, which it mirrors and extends with HP-specific objects. The HP-ICF-PROVIDER-BRIDGE MIB is typically deployed by service providers or large enterprises using HP ProCurve switches to segregate and tunnel multiple customers' VLAN traffic over a shared backbone.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HP-ICF-PROVIDER-BRIDGE. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP ProCurve switch

Monitoring Examples

No sample_objects were supplied for this MIB, so exact table names cannot be grounded, but consistent with a Provider Bridge MIB one would expect S-VLAN/C-VLAN mapping tables analogous to the standard 802.1ad MIB. An administrator would poll such tables to verify a customer's C-VLAN is correctly tunneled inside the expected S-VLAN, revealing misconfigured tunnels if traffic leaks between customers.

What Can Be Monitored

  • S-VLAN to C-VLAN mapping
  • provider bridge port role configuration
