HP-ICF-OID is a pure object-identifier registration MIB that assigns and documents the sysObjectID values for devices in HP's Integrated Communication Facility (ICF) product line, covering HP/Aruba networking hardware such as managed switches and wireless access points. It does not define runtime data objects of its own; instead it provides the master list mapping specific hardware models to their unique enterprise OIDs, which management systems use to auto-identify device type and capability. Its monitoring relevance is identification-based: an NMS reading a device's sysObjectID against this MIB determines exactly which HP/Aruba hardware model it is talking to -- effectively looking up the device's HP-ICF-OID OID assignment -- which in turn determines which capability and health MIBs (fan, power supply, CPU, interface) should be polled next. It is a dependency consumed by virtually all other HP-ICF-prefixed MIBs and by generic SNMP discovery tooling relying on sysObjectID lookups. It is used across the full range of HP ProCurve and Aruba-branded switch and access-point deployments.

Network discovery tools use HP-ICF-OID's OID assignments to translate a polled sysObjectID value into a specific ProCurve switch or Aruba access point model, enabling automatic selection of the correct model-specific MIBs for subsequent hardware and interface polling.
