Description: hpicfProviderBridgeType controls bridge mode configuration. A device can function in one of the 4 modes defined above.
vlanBridge - provider bridge feature disabled mode, all vlans are cvlans.
svlanBridge - provider bridge mode with only svlans.
providerEdgeBridge - provider bridge mode with cvlans and svlans and mappings between them.
vlanSvlanBridge - provider bridge mode with independent cvlans and svlans on the same device.
Changing from one mode to another will empty out the current configuration information and reboot the device.
What is hpicfProviderBridgeType?
This setting controls which of four provider-bridging modes the device operates in: plain VLAN bridging with the feature disabled, S-VLAN-only bridging, full provider-edge bridging with C-VLAN and S-VLAN mapping, or independent C-VLAN and S-VLAN bridging on the same device. Because switching modes wipes the current configuration and reboots the device, administrators treat this as a major, disruptive change reserved for initial setup or deliberate redesign of the bridging architecture. For example, changing this from the default vlanBridge to providerEdgeBridge would be done when converting the switch into a service-provider edge device that maps customer VLANs into service-provider VLANs.
