Description: Manages Quality of Service (QoS) traffic classes and priority assignments in HP Virtual Connect modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPVCQOS-MIB?

HPVCQOS-MIB is an HP-specific MIB for the Virtual Connect Ethernet (VC-Enet) module, covering Quality of Service (QoS) configuration for blade server interconnects. It exposes objects for configuring traffic classes, classification maps, and per-interface QoS settings on the Virtual Connect module. Its monitoring value is primarily software/configuration status: confirming which traffic classes exist, how interfaces are mapped to classification schemes, and what QoS type/mode is configured, which helps diagnose whether specific traffic (e.g., storage or management traffic) is receiving its intended priority treatment. It is a vendor-specific extension used within HP BladeSystem environments and typically depends on the broader HP Virtual Connect management framework rather than IETF standard QoS MIBs. It is deployed in HP BladeSystem enclosures where Virtual Connect Ethernet modules interconnect blade servers to the data center network. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the HPVCQOS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPVCQOS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP BladeSystem Virtual Connect Ethernet (VC-Enet) modules

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll vcQoSTrafficClassConfigTable (vcQoSTrafficClassConfigEntry) to enumerate configured traffic classes by vcQoSTrafficClassConfigIndex and vcQoSTrafficClassConfigName, then check vcQoSIfQoSConfigTable to see which vcQoSIfQoSTrafficClassConfigIndex and vcQoSIfQoSClassificationMapIndex are applied to a given interface. If an interface expected to carry high-priority storage traffic shows it mapped to a lower-priority vcQoSTrafficClassId, that misconfiguration would explain observed latency or packet loss for that traffic on the VC-Enet module.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured traffic classes
  • per-interface QoS/classification map assignment
  • traffic class identity and index
  • QoS configuration type
