Description: Hirschmann I/O module SNMP MIB for monitoring and controlling plug-in I/O expansion modules in Hirschmann industrial switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HMIOMODULE-SNMP-MIB?
HMIOMODULE-SNMP-MIB is a Hirschmann private enterprise MIB for the digital I/O expansion modules that plug into Hirschmann industrial Ethernet switches, giving SNMP visibility into digital input and output channels used for sensor and alarm wiring in industrial automation. It exposes configuration objects for each digital input and output channel, including administrative state, refresh interval, and (for outputs) retry count, along with per-channel identification and event/trap enablement flags. This is squarely hardware status monitoring: it lets an operator confirm whether a physical I/O channel is administratively enabled, how frequently its state is refreshed, and whether a state change on that channel (e.g., a wired alarm contact or sensor) will generate a log entry or an SNMP trap. It is part of Hirschmann's broader private enterprise MIB tree for its industrial switch platforms, extending the base switch management model with this I/O-module-specific branch. It is deployed in industrial automation, rail, energy, or utility environments where Hirschmann switches with plug-in digital I/O modules are used to wire in physical alarms, interlocks, or sensor contacts, and administrators can download the HMIOMODULE-SNMP-MIB file to load it into their SNMP management tools.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HMIOMODULE-SNMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Hirschmann industrial Ethernet switches with digital I/O expansion modules
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would check hmIOModConfigDigInputTable/hmIOModConfigDigInputEntry rows (hmIOModConfigDigInputModID, hmIOModConfigDigInputID, hmIOModConfigDigInputLogEvent, hmIOModConfigDigInputSnmpTrap) to confirm a specific digital input channel is enabled and configured to raise a trap on change, and would similarly inspect hmIOModConfigDigOutputTable for output channel state. If hmIOModConfigDigInputAdminState shows a channel disabled when it should be wired to an active alarm contact, that reveals a misconfiguration preventing a physical alarm event from ever being reported.
What Can Be Monitored
- digital input/output channel admin state
- digital input/output refresh interval
- digital output retry count
- per-channel log-event and SNMP-trap enablement
- I/O module and channel identification
