Description: Hirschmann HiOS (HM2) network configuration MIB for IP addressing, interface, and routing configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HM2-NETCONFIG-MIB?

HM2-NETCONFIG-MIB is a Hirschmann HiOS (HM2 platform) proprietary MIB for basic network configuration, covering IP addressing method, local IP address/prefix, default gateway, management VLAN, and DHCP client settings on the switch's management interface. It exposes configuration data rather than traffic counters, describing how the device itself is reachable on the network. Its monitoring value is confirming the software/network configuration status of the management interface — for example whether hm2NetConfigProtocol shows DHCP or static addressing, whether hm2NetLocalIPAddr/hm2NetGatewayIPAddr are set as expected, and whether hm2NetVlanID matches the intended management VLAN — misconfiguration here can render a device unreachable. It builds on standard IP addressing (and DHCP client) concepts represented in a vendor-private schema rather than reusing IP-MIB directly. It is deployed on Hirschmann industrial switches where administrators need to verify or remotely audit each device's management-network reachability settings, typically after an HM2-NETCONFIG-MIB download to load the module into their monitoring toolset.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HM2-NETCONFIG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Hirschmann HiOS-based industrial Ethernet switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll hm2NetLocalIPAddrType/hm2NetLocalIPAddr and hm2NetPrefixLength to confirm the switch's management IP is correctly assigned, and check hm2NetGatewayIPAddr to verify default-route reachability. If hm2NetConfigProtocol unexpectedly shows DHCP when static addressing was intended, or hm2NetVlanID doesn't match the management VLAN, the device could become unreachable after a reboot. Checking hm2NetDHCPClientId also helps diagnose DHCP lease/identification issues in environments using DHCP-based management addressing.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IP addressing mode (static/DHCP)
  • management IP address and prefix length
  • default gateway address
  • management VLAN ID and priority
  • DHCP client identifier
