What Is HM2-TC-MIB?

HM2-TC-MIB is a textual-conventions module for Hirschmann's HiOS ("HM2") family of industrial and managed Ethernet switches, defining shared SNMP data types reused across the various Hirschmann HM2 MIB modules that cover configuration and platform management. Like other TC modules it contains only enumerations, string/index type definitions, and OID registration nodes (hirschmann, hm2ConfigurationMibs, hm2PlatformMibs), not operational counters, so it does not itself expose interface, environment, performance, or fault data. It is not used to directly monitor uptime, temperature, CPU/memory load, power/fan health, or software version — those metrics are reported by the specific HM2 configuration and platform MIB modules that import these conventions. Every HM2-series Hirschmann MIB module depends on this TC module for its shared type definitions. An HM2-TC-MIB download is typically bundled together with the specific Hirschmann HiOS product MIBs, since compiling those modules requires this textual-conventions file to be present first. It is loaded as a prerequisite file whenever an SNMP manager or MIB compiler processes Hirschmann HiOS device MIBs for industrial Ethernet switches.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HM2-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Hirschmann RSPE / BXS Rugged Switch series (HiOS 10, 2024) — industrial managed Ethernet switches for harsh environments, current under Belden

Monitoring Examples

HM2-TC-MIB's sample_objects (hirschmann, hm2ConfigurationMibs, hm2PlatformMibs) are OID-registration nodes for organizing other MIBs, not pollable data points. There is no runtime monitoring scenario intrinsic to this module; real status and configuration values would be read from the Hirschmann HM2 configuration or platform MIBs that import these textual conventions.
