Description: Manages OSPF area, interface, neighbor, and route parameters extending RFC 1850 on HP/Comware routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPN-ICF-OSPF-MIB?

HPN-ICF-OSPF-MIB is an HP/H3C "ICF" enterprise MIB module that extends standard OSPF management (building on RFC 1850's OSPF-MIB) for HP Comware-based routers and switches. It exposes OSPF area, network/interface, neighbor adjacency, and route-related configuration and status objects, letting operators see how OSPF is configured and behaving on a per-process, per-area basis. Its monitoring value is centered on routing-protocol health and software-level status — confirming OSPF network associations and area assignments are correct and that neighbor adjacencies are forming as expected, reflecting the operational state of the routing software rather than physical hardware. It explicitly depends on and extends the standard IETF OSPF-MIB (RFC 1850), adding HP/Comware-specific enterprise objects alongside the standard ones. It is deployed on HP/H3C Comware-based routers and Layer 3 switches running OSPF in enterprise or service-provider networks, where HPN-ICF-OSPF-MIB SNMP monitoring verifies area assignments and neighbor adjacency health.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-OSPF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP/H3C Comware-based router
  • HP Comware Layer 3 switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll hpnicfOspfNetworkTable/hpnicfOspfNetworkEntry (indexed by hpnicfOspfProcessId and hpnicfOspfAreaId) to confirm that hpnicfOspfNetworkIpAddr and hpnicfOspfNetworkIpMask correctly associate a given network with the intended OSPF area. A network entry missing or assigned to the wrong hpnicfOspfAreaId would explain why an interface isn't forming OSPF neighbor adjacencies as expected.

What Can Be Monitored

  • OSPF area assignment
  • OSPF network/interface association
  • OSPF process configuration
  • neighbor adjacency state
