Description: HH3C MIB for device stacking configuration monitoring stack topology and member status on H3C stackable switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-STACK-MIB?

HH3C-STACK-MIB is an H3C (Hangzhou Huawei-3Com, now New H3C) enterprise MIB for managing IRF (Intelligent Resilient Framework) device stacking, which lets multiple physical switches operate as a single logical switch. It covers stack topology configuration and per-member device status, including stack size limits, member priority, MAC address persistence behavior, and link-delay tuning, as well as a per-device configuration table keyed by member ID. As a monitoring tool it is central to tracking the software/hardware health of a stacked switch fabric, an administrator can check how many members are actually present versus the configured maximum, confirm each member's priority (which determines master/backup election), and watch for stack-related traps signaling topology changes such as a member joining, leaving, or a master failover. It is a self-contained IRF-specific MIB but is closely tied to the concept of IRF as implemented across H3C's broader stacking-capable switch line. It is typically deployed on H3C stackable switches (e.g., S5500/S7500/S12500 series) configured in an IRF virtual chassis for increased port density and redundancy. Engineers can download the HH3C-STACK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-STACK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C stackable switches running IRF (Intelligent Resilient Framework)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll hh3cStackMemberNum against hh3cStackMaxMember to confirm all expected units are present in the stack, and check hh3cStackTopology to verify the physical stacking topology (ring vs. chain) matches the intended design. Walking hh3cStackDeviceConfigTable/hh3cStackDeviceConfigEntry reveals each hh3cStackMemberID's hh3cStackPriority, and an unexpected drop in hh3cStackMemberNum combined with an hh3cStackTrap notification would indicate a stack member has gone offline or a stacking link has failed.

What Can Be Monitored

  • current vs. maximum stack members
  • stack topology (ring/chain)
  • member priority
  • MAC address persistence setting
  • stack member configuration changes
  • stack topology-change traps
