What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-L2VPN-PWE3-MIB?

A3COM-HUAWEI-L2VPN-PWE3-MIB is an H3C/3Com private MIB for managing Pseudowire Emulation Edge-to-Edge (PWE3) services used to carry Layer 2 VPN traffic over an MPLS/IP core. It exposes a virtual-circuit table describing each pseudowire's type, peer address, MTU, and inbound/outbound MPLS labels, along with a notification-enable object and trap objects for VC state changes. The monitoring emphasis is on software/service status: operators watch pseudowire VC state and label bindings to confirm a PWE3 circuit is up end-to-end and correctly mapped to its underlying interface, catching mismatched MTUs or stale labels that would break the emulated L2 service. It sits on top of the device's MPLS label-switching and interface infrastructure, so it is typically correlated with MPLS-LSR-MIB/interface objects rather than used in isolation. It is deployed on H3C/3Com provider-edge (PE) routers offering L2VPN pseudowire services across an MPLS backbone. Engineers can download the A3COM-HUAWEI-L2VPN-PWE3-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM-HUAWEI-L2VPN-PWE3-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C/3Com MPLS provider-edge routers

Monitoring Examples

An operator walks h3cPwVcTable/h3cPwVcEntry (keyed by h3cPwVcIndex) to check h3cPwVcID, h3cPwVcType, and h3cPwVcPeerAddr against provisioning records, and compares h3cPwVcInboundLabel/h3cPwVcOutboundLabel to the expected MPLS label allocation for that circuit. A mismatch between h3cPwVcMtu and the h3cPwVcIfIndex-mapped physical interface's MTU would explain fragmented or dropped frames on that pseudowire. Enabling h3cPwVcTrapOpen lets the operator receive notifications when a VC transitions state rather than relying purely on polling.

What Can Be Monitored

  • pseudowire VC operational state
  • VC type and encapsulation
  • peer PE address
  • MTU consistency
  • inbound/outbound MPLS labels
  • VC-to-interface mapping
