Description: H3C MIB for generic tunnel interface management covering GRE, IP-in-IP, and other encapsulation tunnel types.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is H3C-TUNNEL-MIB?
H3C-TUNNEL-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from H3C covering configuration and monitoring of generic tunnel interfaces such as GRE and IP-in-IP encapsulation on H3C routers and switches. It exposes a tunnel interface table with encapsulation method, hop limit, security mode, TOS/flow-label handling, address family, and local/remote endpoint addresses, plus related tunnel inet configuration objects. For monitoring, it lets an operator confirm operational parameters and endpoint addressing of each tunnel, useful for verifying correct provisioning and troubleshooting reachability or encapsulation mismatches. It builds on general IETF tunnel/interface conventions in spirit but is an H3C-proprietary table structure. It is deployed on H3C routers/Layer 3 switches building overlay tunnels for VPN, IPv6-over-IPv4, or WAN backhaul. Engineers can download the H3C-TUNNEL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-TUNNEL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C router
- H3C Layer 3 switch
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll h3cTunnelIfTable/h3cTunnelIfEntry to check h3cTunnelIfEncapsMethod, h3cTunnelIfLocalInetAddress, and h3cTunnelIfRemoteInetAddress for each tunnel, confirming expected encapsulation and matching endpoint addresses. An unexpected h3cTunnelIfHopLimit or h3cTunnelIfSecurity setting, or an address mismatch, would reveal a misconfigured tunnel causing dropped or insecure traffic.
What Can Be Monitored
- tunnel interface encapsulation method
- tunnel local/remote endpoint address
- tunnel hop limit
- tunnel security mode
- tunnel TOS/flow label settings

RFC description
Manages tunnel configuration and monitoring for various encapsulation types including GRE, L2TP, IPv6, and PPTP on H3C devices.
Start monitoring H3C router/Layer 3 switch (generic GRE/IP-in-IP tunnel interfaces) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
