Description: H3C MIB for user interface management controlling VTY, console, and AUX line access and session parameters.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is H3C-UI-MAN-MIB?
H3C-UI-MAN-MIB manages user interface (line) access on H3C devices, covering VTY (virtual terminal/remote login), console, and AUX lines used for administrative CLI access. It exposes objects recording terminal user names, connection source, authentication failure reasons, per-VTY access-control configuration (including ACL restrictions), and a console session status table. This MIB is squarely software/security-status oriented — it lets administrators see who is currently logged into the device via which line, detect failed login attempts and why they failed, and confirm access-control restrictions on VTY lines are correctly applied, valuable for security auditing and troubleshooting locked-out access. It has no strong dependency on other standard MIBs, functioning as a self-contained H3C management/security feature. It's deployed on H3C routers and switches wherever administrators need visibility into remote/console management-session activity for security monitoring. Engineers can download the H3C-UI-MAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-UI-MAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C routers
- H3C switches
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll h3cVtyAccTable/h3cVtyAccEntry (by h3cVtyAccUserIndex) to check h3cVtyAccConnway and h3cVtyAccAclNum, confirming the correct ACL is restricting VTY access for a given user slot. Checking h3cTerminalUserName and h3cTerminalSource alongside h3cTerminalUserAuthFailureReason would reveal repeated failed login attempts from an unexpected source address, a potential brute-force indicator. h3cConStatusTable/h3cConStatusEntry (via h3cConUserIndex) shows which console sessions are currently active, useful for confirming whether an unauthorized physical console session is open.
What Can Be Monitored
- active VTY/console sessions
- login authentication failure reason
- terminal access source address
- VTY ACL restriction number
- VTY connection method
