What Is IPV6-FLOW-LABEL-MIB?

IPV6-FLOW-LABEL-MIB RFC 3595 defines textual conventions—shared data type definitions—for representing IPv6 flow labels for use by other MIB modules, rather than defining any managed objects of its own. As a textual-conventions-only module it exposes no runtime data such as interface, environmental, or performance counters. Consequently it has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; its purpose is purely to standardize how IPv6 flow label values are typed and displayed across MIBs that need them. It is inherently a dependency for any other MIB (such as IPv6 traffic classification or QoS MIBs) that needs to represent flow label fields consistently. It is used wherever IPv6-aware network equipment implements MIBs that reference flow labels, as a shared building block rather than a standalone monitored module.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IPV6-FLOW-LABEL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, not tied to a specific manufacturer
  • IPv6-capable network devices generally

Monitoring Examples

This module contains no sample objects and defines only a textual convention type for IPv6 flow labels; it has no tables or scalars to poll. Other MIBs that model IPv6 flow classification or traffic engineering would import this textual convention to type their own flow-label objects. As a textual-conventions-only module, there is no monitoring scenario to describe.
