Description: ADVA Optical Networking F3 platform MIB for port mirroring (SPAN) session configuration for traffic analysis on FSP 150.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is F3-PORTMIRROR-MIB?

F3-PORTMIRROR-MIB is an ADVA Optical Networking proprietary MIB for the F3 platform (FSP150CM/CC service demarcation devices), defining SNMP-managed port mirroring (SPAN) sessions used to copy traffic from a source port to a monitor port for analysis. It exposes configuration objects describing each mirror session's source port, monitoring (destination) port, mirroring direction, frame truncation controls, and timestamping options, along with row-status and storage-type administrative controls. Rather than device hardware health, this is a traffic-diagnostics configuration module: it lets operators verify a mirror session's row status is correctly active so a downstream packet-capture/analyzer tool actually receives the intended traffic, revealing whether the switch's mirroring software feature is functioning as configured. It is used alongside ADVA's broader FSP150 MIB suite and standard IF-MIB interface indexing for identifying source/monitor ports. Typical deployment is in carrier-ethernet and access/aggregation networks using ADVA FSP150 CM/CC devices where operators need to non-disruptively tap live traffic for troubleshooting or analysis. Engineers can download the F3-PORTMIRROR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in F3-PORTMIRROR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ADVA FSP150 CM/CC (F3 platform) carrier-ethernet demarcation devices

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll the f3MirrorSessionTable/f3MirrorSessionEntry to check f3MirrorSessionSourcePort, f3MirrorSessionMonitorPort, and f3MirrorSessionSourcePortDir to confirm which port's ingress/egress/both traffic is being copied to which analyzer port. If f3MirrorSessionRowStatus shows a session as not active, or f3MirrorSessionMirrRsrcPort indicates a resource conflict, that reveals the mirror session failed to program in hardware, explaining why no mirrored traffic is reaching the analyzer. Checking f3MirrorSessionTruncationCtrl and f3MirrorSessionTruncationLength together confirms whether frames are being truncated as expected for a bandwidth-limited capture link.

What Can Be Monitored

  • mirror session source port
  • mirror session destination/monitor port
  • mirroring direction (ingress/egress/both)
  • session row status (active/failed)
  • frame truncation configuration
  • timestamping control setting
