What Is F3-OTN-MIB?
F3-OTN-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from ADVA Optical Networking for the F3 (FSP150CM/CC) platform, modeling Optical Transport Network (OTN/G.709) layer configuration and performance on Ethernet network ports. Its f3OtnNetPortExtTable augments the vendor's cmEthernetNetPortEntry with OTN-specific fields — f3OtnNetPortFacilityType (e.g., otu2e-eth), f3OtnNetPortFec (none, gfec, efec-1, efec-2), Trace Identifier Mismatch detection/AIS-insert settings for both OTU and ODU layers, and transmitted/received TTI SAPI/DAPI/OpSp strings — while f3OtnPerfObjects carries 64-bit performance counters such as pre-FEC bit-error rate, FEC corrected-error and uncorrectable-block counts, and OTU/ODU background block errors, in both current and historical (CmPmIntervalType) buckets. This detail is useful for monitoring the health of an OTN transport link at the framing and FEC level, well below what plain Ethernet counters would show. It depends on the vendor's CM-FACILITY-MIB, CM-COMMON-MIB, CM-PERFORMANCE-MIB, and ADVA-MIB for the parent OID and shared Ethernet port entries, and is deployed on ADVA FSP150CM/CC optical transport network elements; this F3-OTN-MIB is intended for SNMP monitoring of OTN transport links.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in F3-OTN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ADVA Optical Networking FSP150CM/CC (F3 platform) optical transport network elements
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls f3OtnNetPortStatsExtFecCorrErr and f3OtnNetPortStatsExtFecUncorrBlockErr on an OTU2e-eth facility to gauge optical-path signal quality; a rise in uncorrectable FEC block errors, together with a Trace Identifier Mismatch flagged via f3OtnNetPortTtiActualRxHexOtu not matching the expected SAPI/DAPI, would indicate a degrading or misconnected OTN fiber path.
What Can Be Monitored
- OTN facility type and FEC configuration per port
- Trace Identifier Mismatch (TIM) detection and AIS insertion
- transmitted/received TTI SAPI/DAPI/OpSp strings
- pre-FEC bit error rate
- FEC corrected/uncorrectable block error counts
- OTU/ODU background block error history
