Description: ADVA Optical Networking F3 platform MIB for Ethernet over TDM (EoTDM) circuit emulation service configuration and status.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is F3-EOTDM-MIB?
F3-EOTDM-MIB is an ADVA Optical Networking MIB covering Ethernet-over-TDM (EoTDM) circuit emulation on the FSP150CM/CC platform, used to carry Ethernet traffic over legacy TDM transport via virtual concatenation groups (VCGs). It exposes per-VCG configuration and status, including the associated Ethernet port, LCAS (Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme) enablement, and protection-switching timers. Its monitoring focus is the operational health of each circuit-emulation path: vcgOperationalState and vcgSecondaryState reveal whether a VCG is up, degraded, or in a protection/hold-off condition, while vcgWtrTimer and vcgHoldOffTimer indicate in-progress protection-switching activity following a fault. As a circuit-emulation MIB it relates to ITU-T/IETF TDM and pseudowire standards (e.g., VCAT/LCAS per ITU-T G.7042) that define the underlying transport mechanisms. It is deployed on FSP150 nodes used to extend Ethernet services over existing SONET/SDH or PDH TDM infrastructure. Engineers can download the F3-EOTDM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in F3-EOTDM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ADVA FSP150CM/CC carrier Ethernet/TDM gateway devices
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll vcgTable/vcgEntry for a given vcgIndex to check vcgAdminState against vcgOperationalState — a VCG administratively up but operationally down points to a TDM-side transport failure. Watching vcgSecondaryState alongside vcgWtrTimer and vcgHoldOffTimer would show whether the circuit is actively in a wait-to-restore or hold-off period following a protection switch event. Confirming vcgLcasEnabled and the vcgAssociatedEthernetPort mapping helps verify that capacity adjustment and the correct Ethernet port binding are configured as expected for that circuit.
What Can Be Monitored
- VCG administrative and operational state
- protection switching timers (WTR, hold-off)
- LCAS enablement
- associated Ethernet port mapping
