Description: Enterasys Networks encrypted RADIUS authentication client MIB for configuring RADIUS servers on SNMPv1-only devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ENTERASYS-RADIUS-AUTH-CLIENT-ENCRYPT-MIB?

This is an Enterasys Networks proprietary MIB for configuring the RADIUS authentication client (per RFC 2865) with encrypted shared-secret storage, intended specifically for SNMPv1-only devices that lack SNMPv3 encryption. It exposes configuration data covering RADIUS client retry/timeout behavior, authentication type, and a table of configured RADIUS servers including address, port, and encrypted shared secret. Its monitoring value is primarily administrative/security-configuration status, such as whether the RADIUS client is enabled and how many authentication retries are configured, rather than hardware or performance telemetry. The MIB module notice explicitly restricts its use to products not implementing SNMPv3, tying its applicability to legacy security postures, and it builds on the base RADIUS authentication concepts from RFC 2865. It is deployed on legacy Enterasys network devices where centralized RADIUS authentication must be configured over SNMPv1 while keeping the shared secret obscured rather than stored in cleartext. Engineers can download the ENTERASYS-RADIUS-AUTH-CLIENT-ENCRYPT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ENTERASYS-RADIUS-AUTH-CLIENT-ENCRYPT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Enterasys legacy network devices (SNMPv1-only)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check etsysRadiusAuthClientEnableEncrypt to confirm RADIUS authentication is active on a device, and poll etsysRadiusAuthServerEncryptTable / etsysRadiusAuthServerEncryptEntry to verify which RADIUS servers are configured via etsysRadiusAuthClientServerAddressEncrypt and etsysRadiusAuthClientServerPortNumberEncrypt. Checking etsysRadiusAuthClientRetriesEncrypt and etsysRadiusAuthClientRetryTimeoutEncrypt helps diagnose slow or failed logins caused by misconfigured retry timing against an unreachable RADIUS server.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RADIUS client enable status
  • configured RADIUS server addresses/ports
  • authentication retry count and timeout
  • authentication type setting
