etsysRadiusAuthClientAuthTypeEncrypt

Module: ENTERASYS-RADIUS-AUTH-CLIENT-ENCRYPT-MIB

OID (symbolic): ENTERASYS-RADIUS-AUTH-CLIENT-ENCRYPT-MIB::etsysRadiusAuthClientAuthTypeEncrypt

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.5.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: RadiusEncryptedString

Access: read-write

Description: This indicates which method is being used for authentication. The authentication type is an Integer32 object that maps to the following enumeration constants:

mac(1) - indicates MAC address authentication eapol(2) - indicates EAPOL authentication

This list of enumeration constants is subject to change. This parameter value is maintained across system reboots.

What is etsysRadiusAuthClientAuthTypeEncrypt?

This object holds the encrypted authentication-type selector for the RADIUS client, decoding to an Integer32 enumeration currently defined as mac(1) for MAC-address authentication or eapol(2) for EAPOL (802.1X) authentication. It allows a management station to securely switch which authentication method the client uses, an important operational choice since MAC-based and EAPOL-based authentication have very different deployment implications, and the MIB notes the enumeration list is subject to change. An admin migrating a port from MAC-authentication to full 802.1X could encrypt and set this object from mac(1) to eapol(2) to require client supplicants to authenticate.
