Description: Enterasys Networks RADIUS authentication client MIB providing read-write configuration objects for RADIUS server management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ENTERASYS-RADIUS-AUTH-CLIENT-MIB?

ENTERASYS-RADIUS-AUTH-CLIENT-MIB is an Enterasys Networks proprietary MIB that supplements the standard RADIUS Authentication Client MIB (RFC 2618) with read-write configuration objects for devices acting as RADIUS clients per RFC 2865. It exposes configuration data for the RADIUS authentication process itself (retry timeout, retry count, enable state, authentication type) and a server table listing each configured RADIUS server's address, port, and shared secret. Rather than performance counters, its monitoring value is largely configuration/software-status visibility: confirming which RADIUS servers are configured, whether the client is enabled, and whether secrets have been entered, which is essential to diagnosing authentication failures on network-access devices. It explicitly depends on and extends the standard RADIUS Authentication Client MIB (RFC 2618) and the RADIUS protocol (RFC 2865). It is deployed on Enterasys switches and wireless controllers using RADIUS for 802.1X or administrative login authentication, and administrators can find an ENTERASYS-RADIUS-AUTH-CLIENT-MIB download available to load directly into their MIB browser for troubleshooting.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ENTERASYS-RADIUS-AUTH-CLIENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Enterasys/Extreme Networks switches and wireless controllers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator troubleshooting failed logins would check etsysRadiusAuthClientEnable and etsysRadiusAuthClientAuthType to confirm RADIUS auth is active with the expected method, then walk etsysRadiusAuthServerTable/etsysRadiusAuthServerEntry to verify etsysRadiusAuthClientServerAddress and etsysRadiusAuthClientServerPortNumber point to the correct server. Checking etsysRadiusAuthClientServerSecretEntered confirms a shared secret was actually configured, since the secret object itself is write-only. Repeated timeouts tied to etsysRadiusAuthClientRetryTimeout and etsysRadiusAuthClientRetries would indicate the configured RADIUS server is unreachable or slow.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RADIUS client enable state
  • authentication type
  • configured RADIUS server addresses/ports
  • shared secret configuration status
  • retry timeout and retry count
