etsysRadiusAuthClientManageAuthKeyEncrypt

Module: ENTERASYS-RADIUS-AUTH-CLIENT-ENCRYPT-MIB

OID (symbolic): ENTERASYS-RADIUS-AUTH-CLIENT-ENCRYPT-MIB::etsysRadiusAuthClientManageAuthKeyEncrypt

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.1.2.5.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: RadiusEncryptedString

Access: read-write

Description: The Authenticator used, in part, to form the key to encrypt/decrypt the objects of type RadiusEncryptedString. This object's true data type is OCTET STRING. This parameter value is maintained across system reboots.

What is etsysRadiusAuthClientManageAuthKeyEncrypt?

This object carries the encrypted Authenticator value, a secret that, combined with the device's MAC-derived shared secret, forms the MD5-based key used to encrypt and decrypt all RadiusEncryptedString objects in this MIB. Because the factory-default Authenticator is an Enterasys trade secret, the MIB's own guidance recommends changing it after initial setup so the encryption key protecting later RADIUS configuration writes isn't a known default. During initial device provisioning, an administrator would push a new Authenticator value to replace the factory default before configuring RADIUS server secrets, to keep later encrypted writes from being predictable.
