Description: Enterasys Networks MIB for discovering and managing Convergence End Point (CEP) devices such as IP phones on switch ports.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ENTERASYS-CONVERGENCE-END-POINT-MIB?

ENTERASYS-CONVERGENCE-END-POINT-MIB is an Enterasys Networks MIB for discovering and classifying Convergence End Point (CEP) devices — such as IP phones — connected to switch ports, within the network access/edge-device management area. It exposes configuration data for globally enabling CEP detection, per-protocol endpoint-detection configuration, the detected endpoint type per port, default policy assignment, and a table mapping discovered MAC addresses to their connection. Its monitoring value lies in tracking connected endpoint status at the network edge: administrators can see which switch ports have a detected convergence endpoint (and its type), whether per-protocol detection is enabled, and which MAC addresses are currently associated — useful for confirming IP phones are correctly recognized and policy-assigned rather than treated as generic data devices. It depends on discovery protocols such as LLDP-MED and/or CDP for the underlying detection mechanism, and complements standard BRIDGE-MIB/Q-BRIDGE-MIB port and VLAN objects for policy application. Typical deployment is Enterasys edge switches in converged voice/data networks where IP phones are auto-detected and assigned QoS/security policy per port. Engineers can download the ENTERASYS-CONVERGENCE-END-POINT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ENTERASYS-CONVERGENCE-END-POINT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Enterasys Networks edge switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check etsysConvEndPointGlobalConfigTable/etsysConvEndPointGlobalEndPointType per port to confirm a phone was correctly classified as a convergence endpoint rather than a generic PC, and etsysConvEndPointGlobalDefaultPolicyIndex to verify the right QoS/security policy got applied. The etsysConvEndPointProtocolConfigTable with etsysConvEndPointProtocolEnable shows whether detection via a given protocol is turned on for that port. Polling etsysConvEndPointConnMacTable/etsysConvEndPointConnMacMacAddress reveals exactly which MAC address is currently associated with the detected endpoint, letting an admin spot an unexpected device using the port's voice policy.

What Can Be Monitored

  • convergence endpoint detection enable state
  • detected endpoint type per port
  • default policy assignment per endpoint
  • per-protocol endpoint detection enable state
  • connected endpoint MAC address per port
