Category: Protocol: DHCP, Vendor: Eltex

Description: Eltex MES DHCP MIB for managing DHCP snooping, relay configuration, and DHCP server settings on MES switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ELTEX-MES-DHCP?

ELTEX-MES-DHCP is Eltex's vendor MIB for DHCP-related features on its MES series Ethernet switches, covering DHCP snooping, DHCP relay (including option 82), and DHCP server configuration. It exposes configuration data such as the relay's option 82 policy, per-interface reforwarding policy (eltDhcpRelayOption82IfPolicyTable), circuit-ID suboption composition and delimiter, remote-ID identifier, and broadcast relay enablement, plus DHCP server configuration parameters (eltDhcpSrvConfParamsTable). While primarily a configuration/feature-control MIB rather than a hardware-health MIB, it is used to monitor the operational/software status of the switch's DHCP relay and snooping service -- confirming option 82 insertion behavior is correctly applied per interface and that the relay/server features are enabled as intended. It naturally depends on being deployed alongside a switch's standard interface and VLAN MIBs (e.g., IF-MIB) since option 82 policy is applied per ifIndex. It is deployed on Eltex MES access/aggregation switches in broadband or enterprise networks that use DHCP snooping and option 82 to track subscriber circuit identity, and administrators typically download the ELTEX-MES-DHCP MIB file directly from Eltex before compiling it into their network management system.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ELTEX-MES-DHCP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Eltex MES series Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks eltDhcpRelayOption82IfPolicyTable/eltDhcpRelayOption82IfPolicyEntry by eltDhcpRelayOption82IfIndex to confirm which interfaces have option 82 insertion enabled and what eltDhcpRelayOption82IfPolicy is applied. If subscriber circuit identification breaks, eltDhcpRelayOption82CircuitIdSuboptionsCombination and eltDhcpRelayOption82CircuitIdSuboptionsDelimeter are reviewed to catch a formatting mismatch expected by the upstream DHCP server. eltDhcpRelayBroadcastEnable is checked when DHCP requests aren't reaching the relay as expected, and eltDhcpSrvConfParamsTable is polled to audit the switch's built-in DHCP server settings.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DHCP relay option 82 policy (global and per-interface)
  • circuit-ID suboption format
  • remote-ID identifier
  • DHCP broadcast relay status
  • DHCP server configuration parameters
